She was not born. She grew — from the roots of a silk-cotton tree on the bank of the Congo, at midnight, already whole.
Musoni is deep indigo lit by river silver — midnight water with something moving under it. Her figure stands on moonlit water over Congo Basin earth, the base cast in glowing river resin so the light comes from underneath, not above.
The Congo River Basin holds more living things than any forest on earth. She is what that fact looks like when it stands up and takes a shape.
Her eyes carry the blue light of deep water. Her hair is every leaf the forest has ever grown. She does not speak in words — she speaks in the sound of rain landing on river stone, which anyone who has stood in that forest already knows how to understand.
Musoni is midnight, the deepest point of the cycle, the realm closest to the ancestors. She keeps it green. When the forest is threatened, those eyes go cold.
“The forest does not need a voice to be alive. It needs one to be heard.”
